Khartoum, Sudan — The Sudanese government continues crackdown on communists as evidenced by seizing communist newspaper Al-Midan for the third time in a row by Sudanese security forces last month.

The communist newspaper Al-Midan is the mouthpiece of the Sudanese Communist Party (SCP) and often falls prey to harass by authorities. Two times before have the authorities confiscated Al-Midan newspapers because it was critical of the government. According to editor-in-chief Madiha Abdella the government has confiscated this issue of Al-Midan because it reported in the story of a girl killed by police, as reported by Reuters.

The Sudanese government confirmed it had confiscated Al-Midan newspapers but did not disclose the reason as to why they did it.
